why yes, they are coming back to me.

(12/365)

I was aiming for wit in today’s 365 post description, but all humor aside, the fortune (which was from yesterday’s lunch) is remarkably accurate. At least, I hope it is.

On a related topic, catching up on life has meant that Project Write Letters has stalled a bit. “This train is being delayed due to a train in front of us. We should be moving shortly. Thank you for riding New York City Transit.”

my writin’-hand may get cramped

Recognizing: a) the unpredictability of existence. b) the certainty of our mortality. c) the fact that I suck at keeping in touch with people. no joke.

Resolved: a) to place a greater emphasis in my life on the written word, in both electronic and physical media. b) to not allow present friendships to fall by the wayside. c) to rekindle lost friendships.

With these resolutions in mind, I’ve kicked off Project Write Letters, in which I attempt to craft actual letters to be sent to various people that I haven’t talked to in perhaps much too long. Tonight was spent writing the first of many letters to come.

You may ask, why an actual letter and not an email? A handwritten letter requires a different mindset and approach than an email, given the lack of an easy editing mechanism. Whereas one could be more stream-of-consciousness with an email, a letter requires putting in some thought ahead of time before putting pen to paper. Plus, there’s an undisputable sense of value attached to physical things, especially ones that one has put thought, time, and effort into creating. If I’m going to do this, I’m going to do it right.

Here’s hoping I manage to follow through with this.
