Sometimes, a change of scenery is called for, if only temporarily–a chance to get away, leave life behind, and escape into a world of your own making.
And you recall a fantasy in which you bring another into that world, to fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle and explain that which can only be explained through first-hand experiences.
Regretfully you realize it is something that only you can do; to bring another is to allow that which you are escaping to follow. Though you dreamed of sharing it with another, you will just have to continue to wait, patiently.
Autumn in New York
Why does it seem so inviting
Autumn in New York
It spells the thrill of first-nighting
Glittering crowds and shimmering clouds
In canyons of steel
They’re making me feel I’m home
It’s autumn in New York
That brings the promise of new love
Autumn in New York
Is often mingled with pain
Dreamers with empty hands
They sigh for exotic lands
It’s autumn in New York
It’s good to live it again

It’s been three years. I still think about it from time to time. But I didn’t even realize it was coming up until maybe a day or two ago.
Don’t forget, but don’t forget the future, either. Give your loved ones an extra-special hug today.
(“You really can see them from up here.”)

“Sometimes I feel like I am all alone in this world and I have no one to go to.”
“WHAT”
“I said, sometimes I feel like I am all alone in this world and I have no one, sir!”
“WHAT”
“No one!”
“WHAT”
“To go to.”
“huh”
“NO ONE! THAT UNDERSTANDS MY PAIN!”
“YEAH”
“OKAY”

Congratulations, Gel and Brent!
My favorite part of the ceremony was a reading from Ecclesiastes 4:9-12.
“Two are better than one, for they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up their fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have warmth; but how can one keep warm alone? If a man prevails against one who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

I’m not normally given over to predictions, but I think this weekend’s going to be busy. Gel and Brent are finally tying the knot, and I have the honor of being a member of the wedding party. Rehearsals on Saturday, formalwear to pick up, a hair cut, breakfast with Gel, photos of the wedding party, the wedding itself, the reception… and I imagine Gel is going to conscript me into photographer duty.
Monday’s going to be…interesting. Though I don’t think anything extraordinary is going to happen, it will be an experiment in seeing just how much I’ve recovered over the past two weeks and what form our relationship is taking.
Also, Movable Type tells me this is my 300th entry. It’s been a wild ride so far–here’s to hoping the excitement continues…
