New pictures.

oh, incidentally…

I’m prototyping a new layout for the weblog portion of the site. (I finally got off my duff and spent the five minutes required of me to figure out how to run my weblog concurrently with a photolog.) Opinions are welcome.

a dying cub fan’s last request

Do they still play the blues in Chicago,
When baseball season rolls around?
When the snow melts away,
Do the Cubbies still play
In their ivy-covered burial ground?
When I was a boy, they were my pride and joy,
But now they only bring fatigue
To the home of the brave
The land of the free
And the doormat of the National League…

the last gasps of summer

So, I took the plunge and bought myself a Nikon D70. So far, I’m loving it. I’ll be paying for it for awhile, but it’s worth it.

What it means is I finally got around to seriously indulging my photography hobby. (It is the final component of the moving-on process.)

In and about Waukesha County, WI:

Erat Hora

“Thank you, whatever comes.” And then she turned
And, as the ray of sun on hanging flowers
Fades when the wind hath lifted them aside,
Went swiftly from me. Nay, whatever comes
One hour was sunlit and the most high gods
May not make boast of any better thing
Than to have watched that hour as it passed.

down with the sickness

A visit to the “otorhinolaryngologist” –> “prescriptions” for “corticosteroids” and “codeine” and a “blood test” to check for “mono” or “tonsillitis.” While the “swelling” has gone down, I still cannot “enjoy” “food,” which “sucks” because lately I’ve had a “craving” for the “fries” at “The O.” It’s just as well, since The O is “ten” “hours” away.

Incidentally…you know that things could be better when you start digging out the old favorites from the iPod. In my case, it’s Rent–that staple from high school days that appealed to many a teenager–and all the baggage that came to be associated with that musical. I’d sing along more passionately if I didn’t have so many things swollen there.

Incidentally…

Summer photos.

Also incidentally, I hope to write something about my camping trip (which is now two months past) sometime soon.

a minor rant

Digital cameras make it as easy as ever for people to shoot away happily. But some people seem to forget that editing is a key part of the process. (You (hopefully) wouldn’t subject your friends and family to a boring two-hour slideshow with all the pictures from your vacation.) Be judicious in choosing pictures–that way, those browsing your album won’t have to choose themselves and possibly miss out on the story you are trying to tell.
