Looks like we all can put a rather nasty winter behind us. The tree branches bend, heavy with leaf, there’s color all around, and there’s no need for those heavy winter coats so poofy that we look like department store shoplifters. There’s something in the air that’s absolutely…intoxicating. And it’s not the pollution.
In this setting, Pittsburgh ain’t such a bad place to be. I love riding the bus down tree-lined streets past beautiful houses. The rolling terrain makes for lovely sights as you try to find a good vantage point atop one of the city’s many hills. Pittsburgh has all the feel of a quaint village while offering big-city amenities.
I almost feel a twinge of regret about my impending departure. I haven’t explored the city except when losing my way driving out of the city, and I haven’t really sampled Pittsburgh’s cultural attractions or its nightlife. I’d like to at least meet some of the area bloggers that have made it onto my daily reading list. When I leave, I want to have bags upon bags of rolls of film shot in and around the area and CDs full of snaps from my digital camera… but I only have a couple of months and I have no rolls of film and these photos.
Despite my newfound appreciation of the city, I have to admit that the most compelling idea in my head is once again riding my bicycle along Chicago’s beautiful lakefront trail. It’s been so long, I bet my old bike is too small. Hahaha.
I have to say, it’s good to be up and running again. I got a small kick out of redirecting mongoosedog to my home box, watching the activity lights blink on my router and seeing my downstream get absolutely hosed by a jammed upstream, but I’d much rather have it this way.
I redesigned the site in commemoration of my primary server’s rebirth, though I haven’t quite gotten around to every little bit (the photo album is still using the old layout, as well as all the static/non-MT pages). Hope to have everything done by tomorrow morning, but there’s that pesky thing called work that gets in the way. Comments are, as always, appreciated.
If you’re looking for the Jessup pages, I’m still hosting them on my home box. (Photo catalog :: Slideshow)
Imagine your four years of high school or college (pick whichever one you liked better) compressed into seven days, complete with its ups and downs, from the nervousness and anxiety of your first day to the elation and the bittersweet moments of graduation.
That was what last week was like.
Photographic evidence will probably be available later, pending the right of first publication. Until then, all I can do is show them to you in private if you ask me personally.
“Oh, the places you’ll go!”
TPTB (aka the Omni Shoreham) have allowed me 30 minutes on their network in exchange for five of my hard-earned dollars. titan is being pissy and won’t let me in, so I can’t log in and delete the 5,000 spam messages that are waiting for me. And I still have 24 minutes to go! wtf.
Everything will be revealed in good time.
Wishing you were here,
Anthony

“You mean the hot pants?”
“Aye, the hot pants.”
